I’ve always loved elephants, with their lumbering gaits, their loose fitting skins, and their big ears. I think they set a great example to people and organisations in a number of ways:
- Elephants CLAIM THEIR FULL SPACE IN THE WORLD, reaching 4 metres tall and 7000 kgs in weight
- Elephants are HIGHLY RESILIENT, with their 70 year lifespan among the longest in the animal world
- Elephants are INTELLIGENT, with similar structured brains to humans, but with 3 times as many neurons
- Elephants have FORMIDABLE STRENGTH, being able to carry 9000kg loads and push over trees with ease
- Elephants are SURPRISINGLY GENTLE, and are able to interact with their young in a very tender way
- Elephants are EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT, as one of the few animals that shows grief at the loss of life
- Elephants are SOCIAL, forming and maintaining deep and intricate connections with other elephants
